Thought I was media saavy..

as a 30 something with a facebook and a (barely used) twitter account.

However, while sitting during the key note sessions the ladies at my table (who were more..'experienced') were tweeting using tweet dec. I was like WHAT?? It looked so fancy and easy to use, so I downloaded it, and now I am hooked! I learned all about #subject and was able to tweet in #CHL2010. NOW I feel more experienced.

I am learning so much at this conference and I am excited about sharing what I have learned with my coworkers and improving our website.

til tomorrow, where I learn how to make a video (!).

I am enjoying the conference. More about audience segmentation by SES, race, ethnicity and immigration issues would also help. PEW survey presentation?
21st Century Tools for Health Leadership Conference is very useful.

Media and Health Education

This is an interesting space to learn about how to use media in public health and promote, prevent medical issues.

what to eat at the conference

Enjoyed the green salad and brownie, left the roll. Fresh fruit for break was a big hit for me. Silvia
Interesting conference about social networking - the future. Nancy

learned about many new tools today!

I learned about "Delicious" and "pipes" - tools for organizing the websites you want to save/archive and the blogs you follow. This is instead of book marking websites. A much better way to keep track. Thanks to Jody Ranck for all the great info from today's panel. Hannah Rosenzweig, MPH

How this new technology is going to affect our cognition?

I wonder how these new technologies are going to affect how we interact in the normal world and how we would change our perception of the physical world. I think users have the right to know how exposure to multiple informatic digital sources may affect their cognitive capabilities.

Great conference!

Thanks to all at UCB for putting on this wonderful conference. Lots of great information here!

I really like the media stations

Thanks to the wonderful volunteers (who get paid with cookies) who are instructing us in these new technologies. I learned about google talk.

Tim's Post

This is not going to be as good as Jenny's post but I want to add my two bits anyway. This conference has many great features. From hands-on use of new technology, to experienced and friendly trainers, to expert lecturers and a wide variety of topics to learn about. It 's great fun!!! And the people are wonderful!!

Jenny's Post

This conference is mindblowing. I am learning so much! While I came feeling that learning to use social media effectively is an impossible task, I now think I might have a shot at learning this, with all the practice I'm getting at these New Media Stations. Jenny Wang

challenges of governmental systems

I work for a local county government. There are many challenges in maneuvering the systems to access the Internet, let alone utilizing the social media sites. Does anyone have any ideas about liability issues for an agency that has a Facebook account? ie: some at 2am posts that they are suicidal, and no one from the agency is monitoring the site at that time.

using new media

Great morning overview -- like the hands-on learning I am doing right now. Looking forward to learning more applications this afternoon!

I am supposed to by posting anything I want about this conference during the lunch hour. Enjoying it thus far.

Very encouraging even for technologically-challenged people

It is going very well! Still waiting to learn more!

What an interesting and engaging conference - from both a social and a health leadership point of view. The speakers this morning have been outstanding, and I am looking forward to the afternoon sessions!

Leadership Conference

New types of media can be used to reach differnt groups and reach more people than traditional forms of media
I'm excited about learning new ways to communicate with communities using new media. It's an innovative way to really reach people.

Social media is not just a communication channel

Interesting topics and commentary from speakers and conference attendees. The technology is out there, but the confluence of ideas and capabilities will always be evolving, i.e., resonance on Twitter.
So far the conference has been a great experience. I have learned a number of great programs for using new media services and I am now following Dr. Mark Horton on twitter!! Tawnia Pett

Implementation

I learned that small groups are best and that epidemiology and statistics skills will be of increasing value. Rosa Vivian Fernandez

A new experience

This is my very first blogg. I've always thought of blogging as something that a teenager would do. It is exciting to see it in a new light and possibly use it in my work with health promotion!
